In Acts 19 ends with two stories of Paul’s two plus years of ministry in the city of Ephesus. These two stories reveal two major lies widely believed by the people of Ephesus: 1) that security and power can be found in idols and 2) that security and power can be found in wealth. These two lies contribute to over 200,000 people on the verge of rioting as a result of the gospel being faithfully proclaimed by Paul and his disciples. Those who believe these lies are often found rejecting the gospel as it bids us come, and die. For Jesus taught that it is in dying that we truly live (Matthew 16:24-26).
