It is natural for us to judge our success by circumstances and results. We may even allow our level of engagement be determined by outside circumstances. If they go favorably, then we are emotionally charged to continue to engage and participate. But what about the times the results appear discouraging, how do we respond then? Paul and Barnabas example for us in the last half of Acts 13 that our engagement with the mission ought not to be determined by outside circumstances. Whether the whole city shows up or the most influential and powerful individuals drive us out of the city; our job remains the same. Acts 13 exhorts us to engage in the mission of the gospel regardless of circumstances.
