Acts 27 records the “Northeaster” – a storm so large it had a name – and the men caught on the open sea in this massive storm. Sometimes we feel like were riding along through life; a small boat in a big storm. Sometimes, like these seasoned sailors, our circumstances exceed our ability and we are tempted to lose hope. In Acts 27, we see seasoned sailors and fearless Roman soldiers alike lose all hope of making it out of the storm alive. Then Paul, who’s hope is not in outside circumstances but firmly on Jesus Christ, proclaims the God who protects his own for the mission he’s given. Although God protects, he does not insulate from this world.
