Luke 1:5-25, 57-66 | Christmas Portraits | Dec. 2, 2018

This Sunday continues in our six-week Christmas series.  God used Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist, to stir up the people for the arrival of the Messiah. God had not spoken for four hundred years. Then a priest from the hills of Judah has a vision while serving in the temple which leaves him unable to speak. Then, he miraculously speaks again once the child is born. God was again at work in Israel, but to what purpose?  Those who heard would have wondered, “could the reign of the Messiah be soon?” “Could God be again coming to deliver his people?” Still, they waited.  Still, they hoped.
